The Malaysian biotechnology industry is on track to accelerate commercialization in biotechnology by 2011 – supported by the National Biotechnology Policy and BiotechCorp, the leading biotechnology development agency.To date, BiotechCorp has nurtured a network of 101 companies in agriculture, healthcare and industrial biotechnology under the BioNexus status.
Of the 101 BioNexus companies, 30 have investments from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, the US, India, China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.Malaysia is also rapidly developing as the biotechnology investment hub for the US, Europe, GCC, ASEAN, India, China, Japan and Korea through the biotechnology designate sectors in the economic zones of Iskandar Development Region, Northern Corridor Economic Region, Eastern Corridor Economic Region, Sabah Development Corridor and the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy.
